The Buddy Program was created in honour of Buddy, a spirited and affectionate rainbow lorikeet whose love for life and connection with others left a lasting impact. When Buddy arrived into care at Treehouse Adoptions, he was malnourished and covered in mites, yet his resilience never wavered. He quickly became a companion to other rescued rainbows, offering comfort and reassurance as they settled into their new environment.
Despite the dedicated care of his foster family and our trusted vets, Buddy could not be saved. The heartbreaking decision to say goodbye highlighted a painful reality—many pet owners face impossible choices when they lack the resources to provide critical, timely care. The Buddy Program exists to change that.
More than just financial support, the Buddy Program is a lifeline for birds and their humans. Whether it’s helping to cover essential veterinary costs, providing guidance and resources, or offering a network of support, our mission is to ensure that no bird goes without the help they need. By carrying forward Buddy’s legacy of love and companionship, we can give his flock – and others like them – a chance to thrive.
About Buddy
Buddy was born to be a companion, offering unconditional love to those around him.
Unlike many birds, Buddy had an extraordinary ability to form instant bonds with anyone he met, charming them with his friendly chatter and curious nature. Despite being found on the side of the road – malnourished and covered in mites – his eyes were filled with love, and his heart remained full of hope. As he regained his strength, Buddy became a source of comfort for other rescued rainbows, helping them settle into their new surroundings with his reassuring presence. His purpose was clear: to spread love. And until his final days, he never lost his vibrant, unforgettable spirit.
Though Buddy is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the Buddy Program – a lifeline for birds in need. In his memory, we are committed to providing as much critical care and support as possible to birds in need.
About the Buddy Program
What is it?
The Buddy Program is a dedicated support system designed to assist bird owners in providing essential care for their feathered companions. While financial aid for critical veterinary treatment is a key component, the program extends beyond this, offering guidance, resources, and community support to help birds receive the care they need.
To support this initiative, 5% of every sale from our online store is allocated to the program, ensuring that as many birds as possible receive timely and appropriate assistance. You can also donate directly to this program in celebration or memory of your beloved pet.
Why does it exist?
